We are your friendly Facilities & Services workers
at Clarkson University.

We are 100 strong. We are custodians, maintenance workers and housekeepers. We're electricians, plumbers, and mail clerks.

We clean student classrooms and living areas.

We keep the heat on in the winter and the air on in the summer, and the power on all the time.

We maintain all our buildings, keep our plumbing working, repair hazards, plow campus lots and roadways and respond to emergency calls on campus.

We distribute the campus mail, receive shipments, and run our duplication services.

We're on campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to meet the needs of our entire campus community -- students, faculty, parents, alumni and administration. See a complete list of our job duties.

We're also members of our local communities. We live here in Potsdam and surrounding areas. We own homes, pay taxes, raise children, and volunteer in our communities. We're volunteer firefighters, veterans, blood donors, little league coaches and church goers. We support our local schools, libraries, churches and area businesses.

We're also proud to be union. In 2003, we united to form Local 752 of CSEA, New York's leading union. We banded together to seek a stronger voice in our employment, and to work cooperatively to enhance our working conditions.

Despite providing services that are essential to the daily operations of our campus, we're also among the lowest paid workers at Clarkson University. Our average salary is $23,400 a year. Right now, we're fighting against a Clarkson University administration that never wanted us to join a union in the first place. They have hired a notoriously anti-union law firm (at a reported cost of more than $400 an hour) to thwart our efforts to gain a fair contract and to attempt to bust our union. But we're not going to bend. We will stand united and fight for fairness!
