"It has become
quite apparent that Clarkson is not the best school for money
management. It is unfortunate these mismanagements are
affecting the lives of the people who support the university."
- Shannon Galvin,
Alumnus
"How dare the
University turn its back on its workers, especially when the words
of Thomas Clarkson himself "A workman that needth not to be
ashamed" surround the Clarkson emblem. Clarkson 'needth
be ashamed' for their unacceptable actions.
- Kimo Brandon,
Student
"It is a shame to
see how Clarkson is treating our workers, I thought we were better
than that."
- David Haaser,
Student
"This is not a
question about a contract, this is a question about showing respect
to the people who have helped make what the University what it is
today!"
- David Lee,
President, CSEA SUNY Binghamton Local 648
"With the price of
tuition and all the monies that Clarkson receives from estates and
donations, it seems that they need to think about their employees.
My daughter also graduated in 2006 and the housing has much to be
desired, not to mention the parking
situation. Good Luck to all employees!!! "
- Lee Rolfe, Parent
"It is my opinion
that for Clarkson to fight $800.00 around 60 employees a year, it
seems outrageous to me. The community has always supported Clarkson,
through its rough years, and it would be nice for Clarkson to give
back to the community by paying their employees a fair wage.
This will be a positive for the economy of the community, as the
employees already spend their money in Potsdam. Please
Clarkson, do the right thing. This management/ employee feud needs
to be stopped!!!!! This is hurting the morale of the entire
community, not just the Clarkson employees."

"It's time to show
some respect to the workers who help keep Clarkson one of the
premier universities in the nation. An academic institution
should be a leader in labor relations, not an example of union
busting at its worst."
- Mike Kaiser,
President, CSEA NYSP Local 264
"As a former HR
Director for over 20 years, I am amazed that Clarkson Management is
so foolish to refuse to meet your rather modest demands. But,
they never have been very bright in their treatment of support
staff, have they? I wonder how much they spent last year on
grounds enhancement, social events for educational staff, and the
new home they built on campus. That, in itself, is something
they should be ashamed of if they can't treat their support staff in
a decent manner. I wish you the best of luck in getting these
people to wake up and improve their image in the community."

"It is very hard to
believe the average pay you people get. I know frist hand what it
cost a parent to send a young person to Clarkson. My third child is
there in his junior year and his older brother and sister as alumni.
I will write a letter in support of your cause to the college
president."
- David Burl, Parent
"Over the years as
a student at Clarkson University I always got the feeling that the
administration ran the university as a BUSINESS and not as a SCHOOL.
If it weren't for the faculty and staff who seemed to care about my
education and quality of life I would have transferred out of
Clarkson very early. The administration needs to wake up and realize
that the welfare of its students and its workers -- without whom
there would be no Clarkson -- needs to come before Clarkson's piggy
bank and reputation as a world class institution. Once they achieve
that, and the students and employees are genuinely happy to be
there, the reputation will build itself and the dollars will
follow."
- Luke Dosiek,
student
"When I was a
student at Clarkson, the maintenance workers were quick to help fix
any problem I had. They were cheerful in their work. They deserve to
be fairly compensated with a living wage."
- Peter Bird,
Alumnus
"Keep up the fight
guys, Anna and I give our support to get this settled!"
- Joe Shanty,
Facilities & Services Worker
"I think that with
the prestige of a college such as Clarkson, they cheapen themselves
by paying their employees unfair wages."
- Amy Hughes,

"A workman who
needth not be ashamed? So much for the University slogan. I'm with
you. You are a great support staff. Come on CU administration, get
with it. Embarrassing as an alumni. I am hesitant now to say I am an
Alumni."
- Charles Richards,
Alumnus
"The work man
needth not be ashamed" that's our school motto, that's why Clarkson
was started and it should be upheld. You guys work way to hard and
are too good of people to be treated like this. Good luck with your
fight."
- AJ Falcone,
Student
"What a great
website. Our Unit supports your efforts and we are encouraging our
members to send in letters to the University president. If we all
unit we can't be beaten!!! Keep up the fight... we're with
you!!!"
- Christine
Williams, CSEA Local 872
"Good luck with
your struggle, I agree Clarkson needs to treat its workers more
fairly."
- Tabor Powelson,
Student
"Workers pay has
not kept up with inflation. It should not cost workers excess money
to go to work. Don't back down. In unionism,"
- Maurice Larock,
SUNY Potsdam Local 613
"I saw your
information on the Newzjunky website. I will make sure to spread the
word for you! The more support you have the better your chances will
be. I give you all a great deal of credit for standing up for what
you believe in and for what you deserve. Keep up the good work there
are so many people that do appreciate what you do everyday!
- Kimberly Grant
"I'm an employee
that has been at Clarkson for 20 years and we never were treated as
badly as we are now. We aren't respected for anything we do. We are
tired of it. We are what makes this campus run and we should be
treated like it. We work for the students and some of the
administration has forgotten that. They seem to think it's all about
them. It isn't it's about taking care of the students."
- Mark Bomyea,
Facilities & Services Worker
I am a physical
therapist in the area who hosts Clarkson PT students for their
clinical affiliations. It seems that a University that offers
so many terrific programs for its students would want to take better
care of and have more respect for its employees -- without the help
of these men and women, there would be no students, and therefore no
University."
