Dear Clarkson University Alumnus: When you think fondly back to your days at Clarkson, do you remember filthy buildings, crumbling walls and ceilings, rooms overflowing with trash, faucets that didn't work, lawns overgrown with weeds, lights that didn't turn on, doors that wouldn't open, dorms with no heat at all and roads impassable for days because of snow? Of course not. That's because of the hard work and dedication of a small but proud army of workers, Clarkson's Facilities & Services workers. About 100 of us, to be exact. Every day we were (and still are) on campus for you and your fellow students, some of us around the clock, on weekends and holidays, to make sure that your experience at Clarkson was the best it could be. We keep our grounds looking nice, our buildings clean and in good repair, our roads plowed and our heat running in those cold Potsdam winters. In short, we maintain all aspects of our physical facilities, so that our campus community can operate on a daily basis. But right now, instead of rewarding our efforts, we're getting a raw deal from Clarkson, and we're hoping you can help. Our struggle really isn't about money, it's about fairness and respect. We've created this website to give you more in-depth information about what our struggle is about, what we're asking for, and how we're being treated by a University that claims to value things like service, diligence and teamwork, but doesn't practice what they preach. Read about the University's apparent labor relations values. (pdf reader required) Please take the time to browse our site, get some information, and register with your support. Then take action and help us make a difference and stand up as we fight together for fairness. With your help, we can get what we deserve and avoid any further negative impact on our campus community.
